SPF Designs and Supplies Control Consoles for ESA’s New CSOC in Darmstadt

The European Space Agency (ESA), based in Darmstadt, Germany, contacted SPF to design control consoles for its new CSOC cybersecurity center. This facility required high-performance consoles for monitoring and cybersecurity operations. To meet these needs, the SPF and ESA teams held several planning sessions and agreed on a layout combining adjustable sit/stand consoles from the ELITEAIR series and fixed positions from the ELITE series. The operational workstations are positioned in front of the video wall for easy access to critical information, while additional positions are designated for administrative tasks.

From the outset, one of ESA‘s main requirements was the secure and efficient integration of equipment and structured cabling from the raised floor. Additionally, compliance with rigorous ergonomic and comfort standards for operators, along with ESOC’s Health, Safety, and Environment regulations, was essential. The ELITE series met these demands perfectly, as is the case with all SPF products.

Each console was equipped with fully ergonomic monitor arms and power distribution units, along with specific cabinets for computer installations and drawers for documentation storage. Additionally, a custom filing cabinet from the ELITE AUX series, almost 5 meters in length, was designed for storing essential documents and manuals for the center.

Finally, the SPF installation team traveled to ESA‘s facility in Darmstadt to set up and fully operationalize the consoles.
